Routt County assessment officer Gary Peterson said that the real estate market in Routt County is in a clear upward trend for the valuation period ending June 30. The determined figures will serve as values to calculate property taxes in 2015 and 2016.

All factors for calculating property values in Routt County are looking up as the Assessor’s Office makes preparations for the upcoming assessment period.

The property taxes for next year and 2016 will be calculated from data from retrieved between July 2012 and June 2014. On Friday, Routt County Assessor Gary Peterson confirmed that all values are undoubtedly going up.

Every piece of data on which Gary Peterson’s analysis is based from the last go around indicates that the regional real estate market reached the bottom between December 2011 and March 2012, varying from market segment to market segment, Peterson said.

“It is climbing at a pretty good rate”, he said about the market condition during the actual rating period. “Everything is showing a nice strong upward trend.” Single-family houses especially are seeing a strong rebound according to Peterson.
